Jackets I'm Wearing This Fall

Fall jackets 2021

Since I covered my favorite fall boots in pretty extensive detail, I thought it would only be fair to the other main category of fall staple items (jackets!) to give them their own post as well. You probably saw a few of these in my fall boots post but today I'm sharing the ones that I feel are on the must-have list!

ARMY JACKET

If there is just one jacket you get this fall, I would say it should be a military jacket (army jacket, or just distressed olive green denim jacket), but I love the way these go with almost anything! Even with distressing like the one shown here, you can dress it up with a sweater and mules or, probably my favorite way to wear it, with a - you guessed it, band tee - black jeans and some sneakers. Olive green is one of my favorite neutrals because it's a great and very subtle way to add color to an otherwise mostly black, white and gray wardrobe.

DENIM JACKET

You probably have a denim jacket already. It's a great way to add warmth to really any outfit. I'm in love with this 90's style oversized denim jacket. It's definitely more on the casual side, but would be super cute paired with a fitted (think bodycon) style dress as well!

BIKER JACKET

Yet another must-have jacket, in my opinion! Biker - or "motorcycle" - jackets are great because, again, they can be worn casually or with a dress. I love the edginess they add to an outfit.

SHACKET (Or shirt jacket, if you're annoyed with that word.)

Shackets may have just become a thing as recently as last year, but I love them just as much as the previously mentioned pieces. They're definitely more for casual wear. I love them over basic shirts and even plain hoodies for cooler temps.

TEDDY BEAR COAT

Ahh, the teddy bear coat! They're probably not for everyone and, depending on the coat, some may be a bit too thick for fall. But the one I have (pictured below) has a very thin lining and is definitely more appropriate for fall. The material definitely makes it more of a casual piece, in my opinion but, aside from my regular graphic tee/jeans combo, I have it paired here with a bodysuit, black jeans and mules to mix things up a little.

CARDIGAN SWEATER

Ok, so technically not a jacket, but cardigans are one of my favorite wardrobe pieces. I have so many of them! A nice thicker cardigan is a great alternative for a jacket in the fall and would even be cute over a casual dress with boots!

If all else fails, grab a hoodie or an oversized sweatshirt on your way out the door and call it a day!
